Uninstall The Old.. Delete The Folder (if you want)..
Upload The New.. And Install Via ModuleaAdmin.

How To Use =
===========
Categories Are Set Through The Module And Which Items Are Spotlighted And The Image For The Spotlighted Items (News Spotlight).
Block Settings Set Whether You Want To Show Or Not Show Spotlight Images (Custom, Category Image, Or None), Show Category Images (Yes, No), How Many Categories You Would Like The Block To Show And The Date And The Amount Of Items In The Categories.

Trying To Figure Out How To Assign Spotlight Images To A Spotlighted Item, Without Modifying The News Module.

.So Far I'm Thinking Of Two Possibilities.

1. Add A New Field In The _stories Table For Spotlight Images, So Each Item Can Have A Spotlight Image Link Assigned

2. Display The Spotlight Images Without Regard To What Item Is Spotlighted. The Admin Will Have To Change The Links Manually.. That Might Cause A Problem If The Spotlighted Item Gets Moved Around Due To Weight

My Goal Is To Keep This Version's Code As Close To The Original As I Can. So That Means, No Extreme Code Changes. I Already Program Really Slow And Not Much Time Free. So The Template On This Will Be Kinda Crazy. Or Its That I Dont Want The Days I Spent On That Function For News Articles To Go To Waste.

So right now im looking at ways that plugins can be put in, for other modules, but so far its just ideas and theories. and also thinking of how i could make the template cleaner. and less in size. and easier to customize.

i've also been searching on 'spotlight' at xoops.org and google.com lately to see if anyone has been talking about it and suggestions.

i've been busy lately. with work and all. but the module is done but currently testing for issues.

so i got what i call 1.02 Beta2 that i would like some people to test. if you want to test it out send me a PM. either Here or at xoops.org or d.x.org (bandit-x), xoopsgroups.com (bandit-x), xoopsforge.com (bandit).

some changes off my head.
- added a link in hover menu for the xoops 2.2 people
- taken the settings in module pref out and put it in the block's settings
- added a setting for the spotlighted items. show category image/ custom image/ no image
- ability to add a link for the image for the spotlighted items.. eash storyid has its own custom image link.

hmm. there seems to be some kind of bug. i think it was something i did. but .. when first installing the module and going in blocksadmin via the module. (block set to not show), and clicking edit and changing it to show.. the settings saved are wrong..... had to manually change the value in the database and then it would work.

i found the problem . i had a $ in the wrong place. well its more like an $ that shouldn't be there.

-Category 1 and 2 has right settings for showing category images, but the other categories dont have it set right
- # of items per category looks like its working in all the categories

-Image manager link for spotlight image link is not finished.. (its currently returning a the bbcode tag for the image. and appending to the one that is currently in the text box.

Second IŽd like toknow if the current download is up to date with all those new implementations that youŽve been talking on this thread, particulary the "category -- subcategories" function.

XM-Spotlight Beta 2. is not in the downloads section yet. there are a couple of people testing it right now.. i think. and the category -subcategory function is not in the module yet. i havent worked it on it much since the end of september. but im working on it this weekend. i gotta read up on JOIN.
